John Kerry congratulates Panama on achieving a significant conservation milestone.

On World Ocean Day, celebrated on June 8, U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry congratulated Panama on the expansion of the Cordillera de Coiba Marine Protected Area, which now makes the area equivalent to 90% of the country’s land area and the third largest marine reserve in the tropical Pacific. This expansion has enabled Panama to reach the global 30×30 goal of conserving 30% of its lands and waters by 2030, a full nine years ahead of schedule. Watch the full video here.
